Pre-Event Seminars & Introductory Workshops

We expect to run some introductory workshops to GenerativeComponents for attendees to the main SmartGeometry workshop (28th - 31st January 2006). These introductory workshops will be held in November or December 2005 in the UK, the Netherlands and in the US. The exact timing and location is still being planned. We also expect to run a training workshop in the UK immediately prior to the main SmartGeometry event (i.e. 27th January), but this training is intended for those participants who for travel or other reasons could not attend one of the earlier scheduled training workshops.

It is not a requirement that you have already taken a GenerativeComponents training workshop to apply to the SmartGeometry event, but SmartGeometry will be run using the GenerativeComponents software and therefore if you apply and are accepted for SmartGeometry then it will be essential that you attend one of the training workshops prior to the main event in late January.

We are scheduling the training workshops well ahead of the main SmartGeometry event so that participants have some time to gain further experience of the software. We expect the main SmartGeometry event to focus on higher level design and algorithm issues and not on the mechanics of using the software tools.

However, because GenerativeComponents is a reasonably advance parametric application, requiring some appreciation of a number of relatively sophisticated concepts, we are not at this stage releasing the software without users participating in one of the training workshops.
